'Hey Life... WE win.'

Before my trip to India was even on the cards, I was brainstorming ideas around running a retreat of my own sometime in the future. The name that I landed on to capture the essence of this was 'Fight to Surrender'. I felt it spoke to the idea of embracing our power, our fighting spirit, and our tenacity, coupled with our (well, certainly MY) ever-present challenge with the concept of what it means to surrender... to let go.

When I saw this photo that was snapped of me and read the words 'Hey Life... I win.' across my back, I smiled. The fighter. Sitting there on top of the clouds 4000m high, completely surrendering to the process. To life. To nature. To the mountains. To the experience. To whatever was bubbling under the surface of this whole thing. To being everything, and nothing. All at once.

I actually whispered out loud with a grin and an eyeroll, 'Hey Life... WE win.'

I can't help but wonder... Does success still count when we fail to pause to acknowledge or appreciate it? Do the lines of what we even consider 'success' to us get blurred as we shift our own goal posts, coupled with the influence of living up to the perceived expectations of others?

I'd love to hear YOUR thoughts (and experiences) on this. Drop a comment

Success feels all warm and fuzzy inside, and so if we don’t pause to allow ourselves to feel that way, we won’t feel very fulfilled. I think that even if we don’t appreciate a success in the moment (because we’re so blinded by the need to be perfect), we may later look back on the moment with a new perspective and view it as a success.
